My name is Terence James Chulavachana. I am from San Francisco, living in Bangkok. I am a dual citizen Thai American, also of dual cultures, Eastern and Western.
While studying in San Francisco Bay Area, in the 1980s, I worked for Trans Global Enterprise as an executive. When I was with the firm, the firm was involved in private investment fund management through a joint-venture with Shearson Lehman Brothers. The company also invested real estate and exporting. I was involved with these.
In San Francisco, I often wrote letters to the editor of newspapers & magazines there. Most were published. Personally, I love journalism and writing. I think this is because the work is about communication.
I returned to Thailand in 1991 and entered journalism.
Therefore, professionally, I am a lifelong journalist and editor, mostly in business, economics, tech and I also was a columnist on national security. I worked with some of the most respected and well-known media in Thailand such as Bangkok Post, Business Day, Bangkok Biz News and CIO Forum. The work had always been high pressured, from competition to produce quality in situations of time limitations.
Apart from professional career work, I have been a “Liberal Democracy” activist. The activism is mostly through independent blogging. About three years ago I diversified to cover global events, with recently, mostly about America and Europe.
Since 2008 total hits at my blog group are about 4 million & some of the blog post is archived by USA Library of Congress. Many blog posts also ranked high in Google search. I noticed lots of great success in the form of high levels reactions and acceptance of my advice & suggestions.
The work was worth the efforts, but the work made my life far from easy.
Recently, I decided I needed a change. Now I am on vacation, relaxing, seeing new places and people, and also thinking & contemplating new ideas & visions.
Personally, I am approaching 60 years old, apart from journalism and writing, love music. I am married with children, middle-class and live in the heart of Bangkok, being the Sukhumvit area. In San Francisco, I lived in Tiburon, one of the Bay Area’s most affluent community and also in San Francisco in the West Portal area, an old, mostly Italian American community.
Often, a great way to know someone is through their resume. The following is mine.
