USA computer chip maker, AMD, Thai operation tops ASEAN with target met despite market slump

The USA computer chip maker, AMD, says its sales in Thailand for the first half of the year met the target, and that in ASEAN, AMD’s component market is strongest in Thailand, having captured about 26% of the CPU market. Local sales of desktop computers continued to grow at a double-digit rate in the first quarter, but notebook sales decline by 10%. The overall Thai computer market looks set for single-digit growth this year. The Thai executive at AMD Thasiland, said AMD is entering Myanmar, through partnership with a brand name computer maker. The executive said, mobile phone and games rtelated products is expected to sell well, while Tablet will taper off. He also said in the 4th quarter of this year, AMD will launch its latest graphic card, which is expected to shock the market into a buying frenzy. (Source)
