There was a nation-wide Thailand attempt to reduce plastic bag usage, but the campaign fizzled out. But Tesco is still at it. Can this be a new trend in the making? UK’s super-store, Tesco, on a drive to reduce plastic bags usage at its stores in Thailand, says it has cut down about 8 millions plastic bags, used the store last year, through a variety of measures. Next year Tesco plans to reach the 12 million plastic bags usage cut down. Tesco’s management in Thailand, told Matichon, a newspaper for the intellect here in Thailand, that it will go on a campaign, including advertisements, to promote the use of alternatives to plastic bags. Tesco says, that at all its stores in Thailand, cloth bags are on sale, and it plans to increase the attractiveness of the bags with better designs. (Source)
