Yesterday at the Parliament, MPs voted to change the status of an Amnesty Bill by a Pheu Thai MP, Vornchai, to a “Priority Speed” status. There were 338 MPs who attended the session and 283 agreed to the status change. However, the current session of Parliament is coming to an end, and thus the Amnesty Bill, will be tabled at the next session, as the first issue to be discussed. Amnesty has been a destabilizing issue in Thailand, with the Democrat Party insisting that the bill will mean amnesty for Thaksin. However, most of the amnesty bill being tabled, calls for amnesty for the people involved in the political turmoil in recent years, not their leaders (Source).
